Hockey is what I look forward to every year. Since it's not being offered year long, my urge to get back on the ice is overwhelming. Just the feeling of the ice running along my skates is enough to keep me going. Snow is also a perk that comes with winter. I mean who doesn't love making snow angels, carving out snow on a snow machine, hooky-bobbing on driveways, and having snowball fights in the pitch black? Now I'm not saying winters better than all the other seasons, or maybe I am, either way winter is an exciting time of the year.
Just seeing the reflection of the sun on the snow makes me glad to be living in Alaska. The way the cold prickles the back of my throat, numbing it with each breath. I sometimes find myself wondering of what it would be like to not live in Alaska and still be in Arizona. When at last I peer through my window and see the glistening snow. At that moment I know Alaska is where I live and where I want to be.
Though I have not even skimmed the surface of winters in Alaska, I feel I have mentioned the most important parts in my opinion. Besides the fact that the temperatures are lung piercing, and that frostbite and the common cold are way to frequent, winter is without a doubt, what I will be thinking/dreaming about for a long time.
