Three summers ago I took an airplane flight full of rough turbulence to Minnesota. The reason was to spend time with my grandma, but that plan changed slightly. Instead, I spent some of the time with my cousins Kenzie and Grant at the cabin. Inner tubing was the main event. First, we took a regular two person tube out and Kenzie and I went around the lake. The rope had slack so when we began being pulled at high speeds, we were yanked forward. We barely moved a foot. Our second attempt was much more successful.
Around the lake we went, dodging other boats driving by. Sharp turns were the worst because every muscle in my arms were gripping to hold on. I knew I just had to hold on for a little longer, and the boat would come to a stop. My arms gave out and I was slipping back into the water. Before I was completely off, I grabbed Kenzie's leg and drug her down with me. Then we went on a tube called, “the Giro,” which was like a bullet floating on water. I remember being able to see the water through the bottom of the tube. Since I was less likely to fall out of the giro, I made use of my safety and spun around like a wild person. Throwing myself this way and that, I soon had the sensation to throw up.
Before that summer, I had never gone inner tubing. Multiple bruises remained on my skin for weeks. Spinning and some rough landings made for a great summer and multiple black and blue lumps.
