This Saturday, Cinco de Mayo, was a day worth remembering. Tessa, Mariah, Wyatt, Cody, and I had been four-wheeling most of the afternoon. Riding through muddy trails, slushy snow, and swampy ponds was a challenge we had all experienced before. Crossing the swampy pond was the most challenging because a dip filled with water, waist high, had sunk the back end of the four-wheeler. As Mariah stepped off the machine to get it unstuck, she quickly found exactly how deep it was. Though her pants were soaked we continued on the trail. Eventually we came to a dead end and had to turn around, but not before venturing along a stream of water leading out to the river. Heading back seemed to take less time.
When we arrived at Wyatt’s house, Tessa and I enthusiastically stated, “We should jump on the trampoline!” So we rushed over and went stomach first. Tessa decided she should turn her body and as she did her knee came crashing down onto my eye. I felt like I was going to pass out, but I still managed to go inside to put some ice on my eye to stop the swelling. Since that story wasn’t very interesting, Tessa, Mariah, and I came up with our own version. We were on the four-wheeler trail when we saw a bear and decided to drive faster. When a cliff came along the four-wheeler came to a sudden halt, and I flew off the machine and hit a tree. Then we saw the bear again so we sped down the trail with my eye pouring blood. Though that wasn’t what really happened, it’s what we tell those who ask what happened to my eye.
