I don’t know where to start, so I’ll start with everything: it’s a Sunday night after dinner, and outside the wind blows and the chimes ring. Sun is on the mountains, messy with clouds. My mother is in the kitchen, doing the haphazard things mothers do in the kitchen. My father laughs and one of my brothers shriek – the offspring of relentless tickling. The other brother, more docile, reads quietly in front of me. Music plays, filled with emotion and nostalgia. It’s interesting how a memory can latch onto lyrics and tunes. I remember washing the car in the dust driveway, five years old or so, splashing in the muddy puddles and trickling rivulets of brown while listening to the song “Shine” by Collective Soul. And I remember many other seemingly random things touched by the sound of music. Just recently I awoke early, my iPod softly playing music by my ear and I lay there, bound in a sleepy reverie before dropping off into the depths of sleep again.
To introduce myself: I am Elias Christian. It might be a little redundant to say that I am a lover of music. Beginning with the basics is the easiest and you’ll get to know me better lately. The final draft of this is due tomorrow, but I decided to add a little bit more about myself than just the various nostalgias of music. I enjoy running, biking, playing hockey, and messing around. I am an avid writer and reader, a little bit cocky, Democratic, and of Irish descent. I like to consider myself a poet, and, as you can see from my little write-up to the right, I am searching for Middle-earth. To describe myself in a paragraph is a difficult mountain to climb and I don’t think I’m even off the foothills yet so I’ll leave you with that. Oh, and this is my own quote that I love because it actually makes sense: “Remembrance is renewed knowledge.”
Nothing much to think about there, but I urge to make note of it.
Well, here I am, and I guess I’ve ended up writing something – my first post and certainly not my last.
