Hobbies range from reading books to collecting coins. Some people have many of them. My one major hobby that I try to do everyday is flying my remote control (r/c) airplane. R/cs range from small to large, and styrofoam to balsam wood. I have two 3-foot styrofoam super cubs that are pretty light and durable; I have one that I fly and one for parts. Flying an r/c airplane is pretty easy once in the air. Some r/cs have two movements while flying; Pitch, which is up and down, and Yaw, which is left and right. The best time to fly is when it is dead calm. Why? Because when you are a beginner and you try to fly in windy weather you risk damaging or ruining your plane. Since I have three years of practice flying, and half that time in windy conditions, I can fly anytime.
Three years ago, I came back for school after vacationing with my mom during the summer. My dad brought me to a hobby shop in Anchorage to get a r/c airplane, and we went through the store looking at all the different planes to choose from. Finally, we came across a Hobby Zone Super Cub that was $200.00. I looked at my dad and he looked at me and said, “If that’s what you want.” While we were there, we decided to get some extra foam tires and skis for winter flights. After the long drive home I had time to put it together and take it for a test flight.
